The BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 indexes in India fell 2.5 percent on Thursday, the day of the monthly F&O expiry, after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced military operations in Ukraine. The BSE Sensex crashed over 2000 points, trading at 5520 points, while the NSE crashed over 600 points, trading near 16450.
Wall Street’s major indexes ended sharply lower on Wednesday, extending their recent rout as Ukraine declared a state of emergency and the U.S. State Department said a Russian invasion of Ukraine remains potentially imminent.
Long term investors can  focus on quality mid, large cap stocks
With the Russia-Ukraine crisis escalating into a full-fledged war, equity markets have been under significant pressure over the past few weeks. Nifty now has technical support at 16410. Closer to the downside, 16185 and possibly 15840 could be reached. 17350 continues to be a strong resistance level.
