BUDGET 2022: Union Budget 2022-23 to be presented in paperless format

All Stakeholders will have Easy and Quick Access to Union Budget Information through the Government’s “Union Budget Mobile App”. The Union Budget for 2022-23 will be presented in a paperless format on February 1, 2022.

Due to ongoing Pandemic and health safety concerns, sweets were served to core workers due for “lock-in” at their work workplace instead of a Halwa ceremony to mark the last step of the Union Budget making process.

After it is tabled in Parliament, the Union Budget 2022-23 will be available on a mobile app.

“Union Budget Mobile App” to provide all stakeholders with easy and rapid access to Union Budget information.

The mobile app is bilingual (English and Hindi) and works on both Android and iOS devices.

The Union Budget Web Portal has a mobile app available for download (www.indiabudget.gov.in)

On the Union Budget Web Portal, all budget documents will be available for download.

Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will announce the Union Budget 2022-23 in a paperless format on February 1, 2022.

Due to the prevailing pandemic situation and the necessity to follow health safety standards, sweets were distributed to the core personnel due to undergo “lock-in” at their workplaces instead of the typical Halwa ceremony every year to mark the final stage of the Union Budget drafting process.

There is a “lock-in” of the officials involved in making the Budget to maintain its secrecy. All officials in the period leading up to the presentation of the Union Budget are housed at the Budget Press, which is located inside North Block. Only when the Union Finance Minister presents the Budget in Parliament will these officers and personnel be able to communicate with their loved ones.

For the first time, the Union Budget for 2021-22 was issued in a paperless format. Members of Parliament (MPs) and the general public can now access Budget papers with ease thanks to the launch of the “Union Budget Mobile App.” After the budget presenting process in Parliament is completed on February 1, 2022, the Union Budget 2022-23 will be published on the Mobile App.

The Constitution mandates that the mobile App provide full access to 14 Union Budget papers, including the Budget Speech, Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG), Finance Bill, and others. The app is bilingual (English and Hindi) and works on both Android and iOS devices.

The Union Budget Web Portal also has the App available for download (www.indiabudget.gov.in). The general public will be able to obtain the budget materials through the Union Budget Web Portal (www.indiabudget.gov.in).
