A 40-year-old businessman has been arrest for defrauding eight other businessmen out of Rs.8.5 crore. According to the authorities, he took money from these businessmen under the guise of importing electronic items from other nations, but he never did so or refunded their money. Instead, he issued false JNPA (previously JNPT) promissory notes and customs documents claiming that items had arrived and were delayed at customs.
Bakir Mustanasir Gogari, a Marol resident, was arrested for defrauding, forgery, and criminal breach of trust by the City Crime Branch Unit One. Kasim Hussain Zakir Hussain, a South Mumbai resident, filed the complaint, alleging that Gogari and the other defendants conspired to defraud him of Rs.8.5 crore. The FIR was filed with the LT Marg police, however due to the complexity of the investigation, the case was transferred to the Crime Branch.
