CA Arrested for Alleged Rs.3000 Crore Scam posted on Social Media involving Corporate House: Mumbai Police A 30-year-old Chartered Accountant (CA) has been arrested by Mumbai police for making a "false and malicious" claim on social media about a Rs.3,000 crore financial scam involving a corporate house. According to police, he uploaded the company's bank statement and tagged it in a post indicating that the funds had been deposited in its account. Mumbai police's criminal intelligence unit has arrested Mohit Jain, a Borivali-based CA, for cheating, forgery, breach of trust, and defamation under both the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Last December, the cyber cell of the south area filed a complaint alleging that @satya_karma's handler had posted fake news on Twitter and tagged various newspapers. In the message, an unknown individual claimed that a Rs.3,000 crore financial scam had occurred, with the funds deposited in the company's bank account. The company filed an FIR with the police. Police are investigating how Jain obtained the private information and suspect that more individuals were involved. They have also included charges of criminal conspiracy. "Prima facie, it is suspected that the accused uploaded other people's bank statements to social media and subsequently blackmailed them to extort money. The other reason could be to harm the company and cause them huge losses," according to an official.
