CA Exposes RTI Bombshell on Rajnath Singh’s Tax Remark About Jain Community While speaking at the inauguration session at a conclave by the International Trade Organisation (JITO), the Defence Minister of Hyderabad, Rajnath Singh, on Friday, said that even though the Jain Community makes up only 0.5% of India's total population, they contribute around 24% of the total tax collections. However, one of the tax experts and Chartered Accountant on social media highlighted how this claim made by him is incorrect, as the income tax department does not keep any religion or caste-based data regarding the Income Tax Return (ITR) Filing. The user attached a Right to Information (RTI) reply, which was filed by him before the Income Tax Department.

In the RTI, the user asked the Income tax department if it ever published the income tax data based on the religion of the taxpayers, to which the department replied that it does not have the religion-based, or caste based of creed-based data. The user asked the second question: if the department actually maintains such data, is it true that the Jain community contributes 24% of the whole income tax of India? The department again replied that it does not maintain any religion, caste, or creed-based data. The user has raised concerns and has suggested that Singh's team, which prepares speeches for him, must be extra careful and avoid any false information, as the minister has a very high reputation and a key position.
