CA Lost Rs 6.72 Lakh via stolen Debit and Credit Card
A Chartered Accountant lost Rs. 6.72 lahks while leaving his wallet unattended at Mumbai's Cross Maidan Cricket Ground. The incident occurred on March 30 during a cricket game, when the accountant's credit and debit cards were stolen from his unprotected property.
When the accountant returned home, he received bank transaction alerts on his phone, showing fraudulent withdrawals and luxury purchases for more than Rs.6 lakh. Investigations revealed that during the cricket match, the thief(s) managed to withdraw Rs.1 lakh from an ATM and spend Rs.5 lakhs on expensive items from several jewellery stores across the city.
The CA contacted one of the jewellery businesses where his card was used and obtained CCTV footage of the suspect(s) from the shop owner. According to the report, no one was able to track down the offender.
The investigation is ongoing. When visiting crowded regions, always be sure to store your valuables safely.
