CA Students Vs ICAI: Delhi HC to take CA Exam 2024 postpone matter on Monday
According to the News report, the Delhi High Court will hear the matter of postponing the CA Exams on Monday. CA students filed a petition in the Delhi High Court to reschedule the CA exams from May to June 2024.
Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava shared this news on his official Twitter handle. He wrote, "Considering continuous requests & hardships of CA students, we have filed a petition in Delhi HC seeking rescheduling of CA Exams from May to June 2024. HC is likely to hear it on Monday. CA students, please focus on your studies. The matter is before the Court now. Let the Court decide."
Another post was shared by Advocate Anubha Shrivastava Sahai to inform the CA students that now the exam postponement matter has been taken to the High Court and the High Court will decide on this matter on Monday.
ICAI rescheduled the CA Examination dates after the Lok Sabha Election dates were announced. The Revision in the dates of CA Exams was done just in view of the Lok Sabha Elections, 2024. However, ICAI extended due dates for clashing exams only instead of having exams after the Lok Sabha Elections are over.
Previously the CA Exams (CA Inter and CA Final) were Scheduled for May 2 to 13. ICAI entirely didn't shift the papers to next month. The Institute substitute the clashing dates with other dates in the same month i.e. May 2024. As per the revised schedule of ICAI, now the CA Exams will take place from May 2 to May 17.
Previous Exam Schedule:
Revised Exam Schedule:
CA Students were in a bubble of thoughts that the exam shifted to June 2024, sothat they would get enough time to cope up with the disturbance they would suffer during election time. But as soon as ICAI released the revised dates, all the bubble thoughts burst into anger. Students were very disappointed with the decision of ICAI.
The timing of the CA exam in connection to the general election has sparked heated debate, with participants from a wide range of industries expressing their opinions. Advocates of the postponement consider the importance of voting rights to democracy and the need to relieve students from additional stress during an already difficult period.
The problem has also sparked discussion about the role of supervisory groups like the ICAI in addressing external issues that may have an impact on exam schedules. Some claim that failing to reschedule exams demonstrates a lack of understanding of the difficulties faced by students, particularly those who attend distant or rural schools.
In response to mounting pressure from student bodies and the general public, the Supreme Court is prepared to consider the merits of the petition and determine the best course of action. The outcome of this case could have a significant impact on CA students as well as the broader discussion in India about democratic participation and educational governance.
Stakeholders continue to advocate for a fair strategy that protects students' democratic rights and the integrity of assessments.
Huge rift still is currently going on among the CA Students due to CA examination dates and the Lok Sabha Election Dates. Hopefully, the High Court will consider the requests of CA Students seriously and give the appropriate decision.
