CAs could become ambassadors of Brand India, help attract investments: Piyush Goyal

The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has urged Indian chartered accountants to serve as ambassadors of “Brand India” and help draw in foreign investment.

The minister urged Chartered Accountants (CAs) to inform their international clients about the fantastic investment prospects available in India while addressing a group in San Francisco. According to him, CAs can help increase the amount of capital entering into India and support economic growth.

Goyal predicted that India would need to grow rapidly over the next 25 years in order to play a significant role in world politics.

He continued, “ICAI also has a key role to play in this journey of India,” and he expressed excitement for the day when the organisation will have 100 overseas offices.

Additionally, he urged Indian firms that practise chartered accounting to form international alliances and become international firms.

Union Minister emphasised the significant economic development contributions made by chartered accountants around the world. He also added that because of the importance of a CA’s signature, their work is difficult and demanding.

The Minister noted that India’s economy remained stable throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and said that the nation has established itself as a reliable partner for the rest of the world.

Goyal added that the 21st World Congress of Accountants was scheduled to take place in Mumbai in November 2022 for the first time in 118 years, just as India was about to assume the G20 leadership. It is an acknowledgement of India’s growing significance in the international community, he continued.

Observing that India was an island of stability in a turbulent world, the minister said that India is one of the fastest growing nations today.
