The Income Tax Department has launched an updated website with the goal of enhancing the taxpayer experience and keeping up with contemporary technological trends. According to the Ministry of Finance, the new website has a user-friendly layout, additional value-added functions, and new modules.

The revamped website was launched during the ‘Chintan Shivir’ event in Udaipur, hosted by the Directorate of Income Tax (Systems). During the ceremony, Nitin Gupta, Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), formally introduced the improved website.

This website, according to the government, acts as a comprehensive repository of tax and other relevant information. It gives cross-referenced and hyperlinked access to direct tax laws, as well as various other related acts, rules, income tax circulars, and notifications.

The website also has a ‘Taxpayer Services Module’ with numerous tax tools to help taxpayers file their income tax forms.

The website has been artistically renovated and now has a mobile-responsive layout. The website now has a content ‘Mega Menu’ with new features and functionality. All of these new elements are described to website users through a guided virtual tour and new button indications.

The new features enable users to compare various statutes, sections, laws, and tax treaties. To facilitate navigation, all relevant content on the site has been marked with income tax sections.

Furthermore, dynamic due date alerts technology includes reverse countdowns, tooltips, and links to essential portals to assist taxpayers in quickly complying.

The redesigned website is another step to improve taxpayer services, and it will continue to educate taxpayers and make tax compliance easier, according to the ministry.
