The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (International Taxation), North Zone, organised a major outreach program in New Delhi called "Bridging Borders, Building Trust". The program mainly focused on International Taxation, Transfer Pricing, and Advance Pricing Agreements.
The main aim of the event was to inform taxpayers and other stakeholders about the new Income-tax Act, 2025; the Income-tax Rules, 2026; and the updated forms.
In his keynote speech, Shri Prasenjit Singh, Member (Legislation), CBDT, spoke about the Government’s efforts to make tax laws simpler and to build a system based on trust. He explained that several provisions of the Income-tax Act have been decriminalised and that steps are being taken to provide faster services to taxpayers. He also mentioned the use of data-based "NUDGE" campaigns to encourage people to follow tax rules voluntarily.
During the event, Shri Prasenjit Singh launched nine brochures that explain important areas of International Taxation, such as Safe Harbour, Advance Pricing Agreements (APA), Foreign Tax Credit, and Tax Residency Certificate (TRC). An AI-powered chatbot called "Kar Sathi" was also showcased to demonstrate how technology can help taxpayers.
The programme was part of the PRARAMBH initiative, which is the Department’s major stakeholder engagement series. Around 150 participants attended, including representatives from industry, multinational companies, ICAI, tax professionals, and tax department officials.
Earlier, Ms. Monica Bhatia, Pr. CCIT (International Taxation), spoke about the need for certainty, consistency, and credibility in tax matters in today’s global economy. She also announced that more global outreach programmes will soon be organised by the International Taxation Division in partnership with Indian Missions abroad.
Participants from industry groups, ICAI, and tax consultancy firms actively took part in discussions. They asked many questions, which were answered by senior officials from the Tax Policy Division and Foreign Tax Division of the CBDT. The attendees appreciated the Department’s efforts and the detailed responses provided during the session.
