CBDT resolves more than 46,000 public grievances under “HARIT Aaykar” Campaign

The Government of India undertook Special Campaign 2.0 for Swachhata in Government offices and disposal of pending matters from 2nd October, 2022 to 31st October, 2022.

The Special Campaign 2.0 was actively supported by the CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) and subordinate offices of the Income Tax Department.

To carry on the spirit of the Special Campaign 2.0, CBDT agreed to continue the constructive efforts taken throughout the campaign for the resolution of public issues. From December 2022 to July 2023, the Department resolved over 46,000 public grievances via the CPGRAMS site and handled about 7,000 grievance appeals.

Under the Special Campaign 2.0, the Chairman of the CBDT, Shri Nitin Gupta, launched a new initiative called HARIT Aaykar (Hariyali Achievement Resolution by Income Tax Department), aimed at increasing green cover, on October 31, 2022, by planting and inaugurating the Aaykar Aranya, a series of micro forests near Attari, on the India-Pakistan border.

He had exhorted the Department’s officers and personnel to work towards accomplishing the HARIT Aaykar objectives of increasing green spaces and creating micro-forests in and around Income Tax Department buildings and other public areas.

As a result, 103 micro forests were established as part of the HARIT Aaykar effort between December 2022 and July 2023. More than 1.5 lakh square feet of micro-forests have been planted across India. The Department’s activities were promoted through the Department’s official social media handles, with approximately 4 tweets each month using the hashtag #HARIT_Aaykar.

Further, the Department has taken the initiative to welcome all dignitaries in official events with potted plants or stalk of flower wrapped in biodegradable material.

While continuing the ongoing campaign, the CBDT is gearing up for the Special Campaign 3.0 which shall commence on 2nd October, 2023.
