CBDT Updates ITR-V via Income-tax Rules Amendment Effective March 31, 2026 The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under the Ministry of Finance recently issued a notification on March 30, 2026, regarding income tax rules amendments. The CBDT, using its power given by section 139 read with section 295 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43), made the following rules to amend the Income-tax Rules, 1962:

These rules will be known as the Income-tax (Eighth Amendment) Rules, 2026. It will come into force from March 31, 2026 and will apply in respect of returns filed for AY 2026-27.
In the Income-tax Rules, 1962, Appendix II for FORM ITR-V will be replaced with a new form.
