CBI has nabbed a Deputy Director (Mining), DGMS, Hyderabad, along with two others over alleged demand and acceptance of Rs 2 lakh bribe.
Dy. Director (Mining), DGMS Caught Red-Handed in Rs 3 Lakh Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has nabbed the Deputy Director (Mining), DGMS, Hyderabad-III Region, South Central Zone, Hyderabad, along with two accused, including a consultant/middleman and a representative of a private mining establishment, on August 17, 2026. The accused is alleged to have demanded and accepted a Rs 3 lakh bribe.
The CBI had registered a case in the present matter on August 17, 2026, against the aforementioned three accused and other unknown public servants and private persons.
CBI had received information about a fatal accident that took place on June 25, 2026, at a mining quarry in Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh. The representatives of the mining establishment had a conversation with the accused DD (Mining), through a consultant/middleman, requesting him to obtain a favourable enquiry report in relation to the accident and without involving the owners of the mining establishment in the matter.
As per the investigation, the middle person had already paid Rs 1 lakh (part of the undue advantage) to the accused Dy. Director (Mining) for obtaining the favourable report in the fatal accident case. Furthermore, Rs 2 lakh was arranged for payment to the Dy. Director (Mining) as the remaining bribery amount.
To catch the accused red-handed, the CBI planned a trap. When the accused Dy. Director (Mining) was accepting a bribe of Rs 2 Lakh from the Consultant/Middleman in the presence of a representative of the private mining establishment, the CBI arrested the accused and recovered the Rs 2 lakh bribe amount.
In connection with the present Rs 3 lakh bribery case, the CBI has carried out searches at several locations, including Ongole, Kadapa, and Hyderabad, linked to the accused individuals.
The three accused have been produced before the competent court at Vijayawada today, August 18, 2026. Investigation in the present matter is still ongoing.
