CBI arrest a Post Master for accepting Bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Post Master working at the Post office Bargaon, District – Gonda (Uttar Pradesh) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.12,500 from the Complainant.

A complaint was filed against the accused, who were accused on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs.10,000 for the release of matured NSCs worth Rs.50,000 acquired by the complainant’s mother at the Post Office in Bargaon, District – Gonda.

It was further alleged that the bribe was enhanced by the accused to Rs.12,500 for settling the claim of the nominees during the verification.

The CBI set a trap for the accused and caught him red-handed while asking and taking a bribe of Rs.12,500 from the complainant. Searches were undertaken at the accused’s residence, resulting in the discovery of Rs.7,00,000 in cash as well as a number of incriminating papers.

The arrested accused was produced before the Competent Court and was remanded to Judicial Custody till 20.07.2023.
