CBI arrested Superintendents and Inspectors in a Bribery Case; Seized Cash worth Rs 83.26 Lakh:

The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested two Superintendents and three Inspectors of CGST Jabalpur for accepting bribe of Rs.7,00,000/-.

The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested two Superintendents and three Inspectors of CGST Jabalpur for accepting bribe of Rs. 7,00,000/-.
CBI filed a case against a Superintendent, CGST, Jabalpur (MP) on accusations of seeking a payment of Rs.1,00,000/- for issuing a factory release order. It was also claimed that the industrial premises were searched and sealed in May 2023 by same Superintendents and other CGST, Jabalpur authorities. The claimed bribe was lowered to Rs.35,00,000/- after negotiations. It is further claimed that the Complainant gave over Rs.25,00,000/- to the Superintendent and asked for additional time to pay the remaining Rs. 10,00,000/-. Following additional negotiations, the accused lowered the payment to Rs.7,00,000/-.
The CBI set a trap and apprehended two Superintendents and three Inspectors while seeking and taking a bribe of Rs. 7,00,000/- from the complainant. Searches were performed at 07 sites, including the accused's Jabalpur residence and office, resulting in the recovery of Rs. 83,26,800/- (approx.) in cash.
All the 05 arrested accused will be produced before Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jabalpur.
