The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Chartered Accountant for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.50,000 from the Complainant.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Chartered Accountant for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.50,000 from the Complainant.
CBI registered a case against the Chartered Accountant on Complaint. It was claimed that the accused (an empanelled Chartered Accountant of Canara Bank) had informed the Complainant that he was deputed by the Zonal Office of Canara Bank for stock audit.
It was alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs.1.50 Lakh in exchange for providing a favourable stock audit report to the Complainant's firm (which deals in art work). The accused allegedly negotiated the bribe and agreed to accept Rs.50000 as a bribe and further asked the Complainant to deposit the remaining Rs.1 Lakh in his account.
The CBI set up a trap and arrested the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000. In Chandigarh, searches were conducted at the accused's residence.
The arrested accused was produced in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Chandigarh and was remanded to 14 days Judicial Custody.
