CBI arrests a Conman impersonating as CBI Official for accepting Bribe The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a conman impersonating himself as CBI official for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from the Complainant. A complaint was filed against a conman portraying himself as a CBI official in Nagpur and unknown others. It was said that the accused, misrepresenting himself as the PA to the DIG of the CBI, approached a Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer of the Central Railway in Nagpur and claimed that he (conman) could handle some complaints against him in the CBI. It was further alleged the accused demanded undue advantage of Rs. 20,00,000 from the Complainant for showing favour to him. CBI set a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs. 1,000,000 from the complainant. Searches were undertaken at the accused's residence, resulting in the recovery of incriminating documents. The arrested accused was brought before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nagpur today and remanded in CBI custody till November 6, 2023.
