CBI arrests an Additional Divisional Commissioner for accepting Bribe
The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested an Additional Divisional Commissioner, Pune(Maharashtra) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.8 Lakh from the Complainant.
A case was registered on a complaint against an Additional Divisional Commissioner, Pune Division, Pune(also Arbitrator for Pune, Satara & Solapur Districts for NHAI).
It was claimed that the Complainant was handling land acquisition law matters for farmers in the Satara and Solapur districts. It was also claimed that farmers from the villages were seeking higher compensation for their land, and the Complainant was representing their cases before the Office of Additional Divisional Commissioner & Arbitrator for Satara, Pune, and Solapur Districts, in accordance with the National Highways Act.
The accused reportedly kept the Complainant’s cases waiting, and when the Complainant addressed him about it, he requested an unfair benefit of 10% of the increased compensation. It was also claimed that the accused requested Rs. 10 lakh from the Complainant for the enhanced compensation of about 1.25 crore (approximately) and ultimately settled for Rs. 8 lakh.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.8 lakh. Searches were conducted at the accused’s official and residential premises in three locations in Pune, resulting in the recovery of Rs. Six Crore (approximately); property related documents, including 14 immovable properties in the name of self and family; investment and bank account details; and other incriminating documents.
The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the Competent Court at Shivajinagar, Pune(Maharashtra).
