The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested an Additional Legal Advisor (ALA) & Incharge, Branch Secretariat (Govt. of India), Bangalore and an Advocate in a bribery case.
A case was filed against Additional Legal Advisor & In-charge, Branch Secretariat, Bangalore (Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Govt. of India); an Advocate based in Bangalore; and Unknown Public Servants & Private Persons on allegations that an Additional Legal Advisor & In-charge, Branch Secretariat, Bangalore was indulging in illegal practises of obtaining bribe from advocates for facilitating their appointment/registration as Notary for the State of Kerala.
It was further alleged that the said accused was in contact with other accused (an Advocate) in the matter of appointment of advocates as Notary and demanded bribe of Rs.50,000/- per advocate & asked her to deliver part of the bribe amount.
The CBI set a trap and nabbed the accused (ALA) with a bribe of Rs.25,000/-. In addition to the bribe money, a cash sum of Rs.4,32,800/- (approximately) was confiscated from the accused's personal possession. Searches were carried out in Bangalore and Ghaziabad, resulting in the recovery of Rs.34 lakh (estimated) from the properties of the accused, as well as various incriminating papers and digital gadgets.
Both the arrested accused were produced in the Competent Court and were remanded to Judicial Custody.
