The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Audit Officer, PAG (Audit-1), Bhubaneswar for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 6,500 from the Complainant.

A complaint was filed against an Assistant Audit Officer, PAG (Audit-1), Bhubaneswar, on charges of requesting a payment of Rs. 6,500 from the complainant for failing to raise any audit objection on his office’s medical expenses. It was also claimed that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 6,500 (at 10% of the bill amount) because he did not object to medical bills totaling Rs. 65,000 during the audit.

Searches were undertaken at the accused’s residences in Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam, resulting in the collection of papers relating to immovable assets in Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, and Berhampur.

The arrested accused will be produced today in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Bhubaneswar.
