CBI arrests GST official in a Bribery Case The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a superintendent of the CGST department from Navi Mumbai in a bribery case. According to an official statement from the CBI, a case was lodged on complaint against the accused for allegedly seeking a bribe of 20,00,000 from the complainant in exchange for terminating the investigation into his firm and not detaining him. The GST official was arrested for allegedly take Rs.10 lakh from a Mumbai-based businessman. Searches were undertaken at the accused's residence, resulting in the discovery of damning documents as well as numerous movable and immovable assets. The arrested accused appeared before the Competent Court in Thane and was placed in police custody until December 20, 2022.
