CBI Arrests GST Superintendent and Inspector in Bribery Case  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a superintendent and an inspector of Goods and Services Tax (GST) officials on May 20, 2026 (Wednesday), in Giridih, Ranchi, in a Rs 90,000 bribery case. The GST officials have been identified as Superintendent Budheshwar Sundi and Inspector Virju Kimar. They are alleged to have demanded Rs 90,000 from a complainant for resolving his input tax credit (ITC) mismatch and also threatened him to block his GST number if he denied paying the amount.

The CBI conducted a trap to arrest the accused red-handed while accepting the first installment of Rs 50,000 from the total alleged demand of Rs 90,000. The CBI said in a statement, "Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused persons."
Income Tax Dept Replaces Form 13 With New Form No. 128
The purpose of these searches is generally to find further evidence and identify any additional material relevant to the investigation. The arrested officials are likely to be produced before the competent court in Dhanbad. The CBI further stated that the investigation is still ongoing and more aspects of the matter are being examined.
