CBI arrests Health Ministry Under Secretary for Seeking Rs.1.5 Lakh Bribe The Under Secretary of the Union Health Ministry was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as part of a broad anti-corruption campaign for allegedly trying to bribe a doctor who practises in the US out of Rs.1.5 lakh. The CBI has arrested an Under Secretary in the Union Health Ministry for allegedly seeking a bribe for issuing a Statement of Need to a medical professional, as per officials. As per the report that came out, "It was alleged that son(who stays in USA) of Complainant's friend had applied for Statement of Need in Ministry of Health, and for giving the original (hard) copy of the same, the said Under Secretary, M/o Health has demanded a bribe of Rs.1.5 Lakh." CBI laid a trap and caught the accused for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.1.5 Lakh from the Complainant (Pairokar of his friend). Searches were conducted at the premises of accused. Investigation is continuing.
