CBI arrests Safdarjung hospital Neurosurgeon and four others on Corruption Charges The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has registered a case against the accused on certain allegations including bribery and arrested a Neuro Surgeon at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi & four others. It was alleged that the Neuro Surgeon, Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, in collusion with others (acting as middlemen) including private persons, the Proprietor of a private(Surgical) Shop in New Delhi, was engaging in illegal activities and accepting money for giving medical advice and conducting surgery on patients and circumventing laid down rules regarding treatment at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. It was also claimed that the said Doctor instructed the patients to buy the surgical tools from the said Proprietor's Surgical Shop through these intermediaries. It was also claimed that the accused forced customers to pay more than the real price for the instruments in order to profit from the shop's overbilling. It was further alleged that bribes of Rs 1,15,000/-, Rs.55,000/-, and Rs.30,000/- were lately collected from the attendants of said Doctor's patients through a private person (middleman) and deposited in the bank account of another private person. The same thing was reportedly done at the Doctor's instruction. It was also claimed that the accused Doctor was laundering his illegally obtained money through businesses run by a private individual. Searches were carried out in various locations, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, which resulted in the retrieval of incriminating papers, digital devices, and so on. The detained suspects will be brought before the Competent Court in Delhi.
