CBI arrests three employees of Kamptee Cantonment Board in Bribery for Recruitment Case The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested three accused including a Safai Karmachari, Kamptee Cantonment Board (KCB), Nagpur (Maharashtra); a candidate (selected for the post of Mali) and a Nursery Teacher working on contract basis in Kamptee Cantonment Board, School, Nagpur in a bribery case related to recruitment. A case was registered against a Safai Karmachari, Kamptee Cantonment Board, Nagpur; former Vice President, Kamptee Cantonment Board, Nagpur; a candidate (selected for the post of Mali) and Unknown officials of Kamptee Cantonment Board, Nagpur on the allegations that the public servants of Kamptee Cantonment Board (KCB) in connivance with the private persons (touts) were running a racket of recruitment wherein they were approaching the candidates and assuring them as employment in the recruitment for the post of Assistant Teacher, Mali & Safai Karamchari, in lieu of huge bribe. Furthermore, it was claimed that the former vice president (ex-elected ward member) had been in touch with the KCB's Safai Karmachari on a regular basis in order to approach the qualified applicants whose names appeared on the list published by the Kamptee Cantonment Board for the post of Assistant Teacher, Mali, and Safai Karamchari. A candidate who had applied for the position of Mali was approached by the aforementioned Safai Karmachari, who informed him that he had been chosen. Additionally, it was claimed that after being hired by KCB for the position of Mali, the candidate paid Safai Karamchari an initial sum of Rs. 50,000/- before talking to him about the balance and agreeing to pay Rs. 11.50 lakh. CBI laid a trap and caught the said Safai Karmachari while accepting the bribe of Rs. 2 lakh as a first installment out of total bribe of Rs. 11,50,000/- on behalf of former-Vice President, Kamptee Cantonment Board and other officials of Kamptee Cantonment Board, Nagpur. The candidate who gave the bribe was also apprehended. Investigation revealed the involvement of a Nursery Teacher employed on a contract basis at KCB School in Nagpur who was also a close friend of the aforementioned former vice president of Kamptee Cantonment Board. She was apprehended as well. Incriminating documents were found after searches were carried out at the accused's and other people's homes and workplaces. The three arrested suspects were all brought before Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nagpur, and were all remanded to police custody until April 21, 2023.
