CBI arrests Two Employees of Chandigarh based Insurance Company in Bribery Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested an Insurance Surveyor and a Regional Manager of The New India Assurance Company, Chandigarh in a bribery of Rs. 5 lakh.
A case was filed against an Insurance Surveyor of The New India Assurance Company, Chandigarh, on allegations that his close officer demanded a bribe of Rs. 12 lakh from the Complainant in order to have his factory's insurance claim released early and to avoid filing an appeal in higher court (a Regional Manager of The New India Assurance Company, Chandigarh). It was also claimed that the Complainant's factory caught fire in 2010.
The CBI set a trap and apprehended the Surveyor while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5 lakh from the Complainant as the first instalment on behalf of the said Regional Manager. The said Regional Manager was also apprehended.
Searches are being conducted at the premises of both accused in Chandigarh and Panchkula, which have resulted in the recovery of some documents related to investment and locker keys, among other things.
Both arrested suspects will appear before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Shimla.
