CBI books post office employee for allegedly misappropriating government funds
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a case against an Andhra Pradesh post office employee for allegedly misappropriating government cash worth Rs.11828500, on Friday.
Chintakrinda Venkata Satish has been accused of using N.J.P. Kumari’s (sub-postmaster) secret user ID and password while she was on leave without her approval or knowledge.
According to a senior CBI official, one P.V.L.N.V. Bala Satyanarayana — superintendent of post offices, Amalapuram Division, East Godavari district — filed a complaint against Chintakrinda Venkata Satish, alleging that Satish, while working as Systems Administrator in the office of the superintendent of post offices, misappropriated Rs 1,18,28,500 in government funds by using Kumari’s confidential User ID and password.
The official said that Satish was looking after technical issues as System Administrator. He used to work with the official computers of the postal employees to resolve technical issues as the System Administrator, thus he became familiar with their user IDs and passwords.
“Satish abused the user credentials of Kumari, a sub-postmaster, who was on leave from February 4, 2022, to May 7, 2022, as he had access to all of the postmasters’ login IDs and passwords. Without the knowledge of PNS Mahalakshmi, PA, Amalapuram HO, and A.V.V.S.A.M.S. Tiyaru, PA, Bandarulanka, who served as in-charge sub-postmasters during Kumari’s leave, he used the log-in credentials improperly “added the official.
Satish entered her official account using Kumari’s login information and made several erroneous entries in the computer systems linked to the postal server.
