CBI conducts Searches at 30 Locations in case of alleged irregularities in Rs.2,200 Crore Kiru Hydroelectric Project The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at over 30 locations in eight states/UTs as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of irregularities in the award of civil works for the Kiru Hydroelectric Power Project in Jammu and Kashmir, which is being carried out by Chenab Valley Power Projects (P) Ltd. This probe is part of the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption involving the Rs.2,200 crore Kiru Hydropower project. These searches are taking place at various locations including in Jammu, Srinagar, Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Baghpat, Noida, Patna, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Barmer, Nagaur and Chandigarh. The case was filed on April 20, 2022, against CVPPPL executives, a private company, and unknown others. It was stated that the guidelines for e-tendering were not followed when awarding civil works for the Kiru Hydroelectric Project. It was also alleged that, despite a resolution made at CVPPPL's 47th board meeting to re-tender through e-tendering with the reverse auction, the same was not executed after the ongoing tendering process was cancelled, and the decision of the 47th board meeting was reversed at the 48th board meeting. During searches evidence of huge cash deposits, investment in fixed deposits, investment in properties in various cities, digital and documentary evidence, etc. have been recovered. The investigation is continuing.
