CBI files chargesheet against 15 accused in JE (Civil) Examination Scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed chargesheet against 15 accused including then Assistant Sub Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police; then Head Constable/ Constable of CRPF; then Sepoy of Army; Teacher and private persons etc in an ongoing investigation of a case related to irregularities in written examination of JE (Civil), Jal Shakti Department, Jammu and Kashmir Government.

CBI registered a case on 09.01.2023 on the request of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir alleged anomalies in the written examination of Junior Engineer (Civil), Jal Shakti Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).

During the investigation, it was discovered that a private individual conspired with other defendants. According to the plot, an employee of a printing press reportedly stole the JE (Civil) test question paper and handed it over to the aforementioned private individual.

The private individual contacted other accused in order to arrange/ solicit candidates for the selling of the leaked question paper. It was also claimed that the aspirants were driven to Panchkula in tempo travellers and taxis and given leaked question papers in exchange for money.

The investigation was conducted throughout many states and involved the analysis of enormous technical data, bank accounts, toll data, and the questioning of over 100 witnesses.

A chargesheet was filed against the defendants after an investigation.

The public is reminded that the following results are based on the CBI’s investigation and evidence collection. Accused are assumed innocent under Indian law unless their guilt is eventually confirmed after a fair trial.
