CBI registers a Case against Private Co. for Illegal Export of Shawls and Stoles; Conducts Searches The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has opened an investigation based on a complaint from the Customs Department in New Delhi against a private company based in Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) on allegations of illegal export of Shawls and Stoles containing guard hair of the Shahtoosh/ Chiru (Tibetan Antelope), a protected animal under the Wildlife (Protection) Act. Searches were undertaken at the firm's Jaisalmer headquarters, which resulted in the recovery of 23 Shawls and Stoles suspected of containing guard hair of the Shahtoosh/ Chiru (Tibetan Antelope). The investigation is still ongoing.
