CBI registers case against Ex-Deputy Chief Engineer of Railway and 6 Others in Bribery Case The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged the then-Deputy Chief Engineer, six other officers of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) of Guwahati and a private company in a bribery case. Searches were carried out at 16 locations in Assam, Tripura, Manipur, and Delhi, including the accused's homes. This Search led to the recovery of incriminating documents related to the case and the investment/acquisition of property by the accused. The case was filed against the Ex-Dy. Chief Engineer (Construction), then two Assistant Executive Engineers (Construction), then Senior Section Engineer (Construction), three ex-Senior Section Engineers (P.Way/ CON), and a private company based in Guwahati. It was claimed that the aforementioned Railway officials received illicit gratification/ bribe/ undue advantage in the bank accounts of their relatives/ friends/ known persons from the abovementioned private company as a reward for successfully passing their contract bills. The investigation is continuing.
