The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) participated with great vigour in the Special Campaign on Disposal of Pending Matters (SCPDM), from November, 2022 to August, 2023.

The campaign’s main focus was the disposal of VIP references and public grievances. During this time, 80 VIP references, 11,284 public grievances, and over 2,082 public grievance appeals were resolved. A nationwide cleanliness drive was also organised across all CBIC field offices. So far, 195 outdoor campaigns have been carried out.

Approximately 1 lakh files were reviewed during the campaign period, with approximately 86,000 files being weeded out. Due to ongoing efforts, CBIC has largely transitioned to e-Office over the course of the year, reducing the number of physical files to a bare minimum.

Another identified focus area was the disposal of old/unused office equipment and scrap material, thereby freeing up additional space. Approximately 9,909 square feet of space were freed up by disposing of unused material/scrap during the campaign period of November 2022 to August 2023. The extra space thus created was put to good use.

To give the exercise a boost, CBIC will launch the Special Campaign 3.0 from October 2nd to October 31st, 2023, with the goal of institutionalising Swachhata (cleanliness) and reducing the backlog of identified items of work. CBIC, in collaboration with its field offices across India, will make every effort to resolve the identified references/issues during the campaign phase, which runs from October 2nd to October 31st, 2023.

CBIC remains committed to ensuring cleanliness and enhancing the quality of public spaces maintained by it.
