The CBIC has notified an extension of Exemption of Deposits into Electronic Cash Ledger u/s 51A(4) of Customs Act till 30th November 2023 via issuing Notification.

CBIC extends Exemption of Deposits into Electronic Cash Ledger u/s 51A(4) of Customs Act The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs(CBIC) has notified an extension of Exemption of Deposits into Electronic Cash Ledger u/s 51A(4) of Customs Act till 30th November 2023 via issuing Notification. The Notification stated, "In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (4) of section 51A of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, on being satisfied that it is necessary and expedient to do so, hereby makes the following amendments to the notification No.18/2023-Customs (N.T.) dated the 30th March, 2023, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii) vide S.O. 1528 (E), dated the 30th March, 2023." In the said notification, in para 2, for the words, '30th September, 2023', the words '30th November, 2023' shall be substituted. This extension of exemption applies to: I. Goods imported or exported through customs stations that lack automated systems. II. Goods imported or exported in International Courier Terminals. III. Accompanied baggage. IV. Deposits other than those used for making electronic payments of:

a. Any duty of customs, including cesses and surcharges levied as duties of customs.

b. Integrated tax.

c. Goods and Service Tax Compensation Cess.

d. Interest, penalty, fees, or any other amount payable under the Act or Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975).
