Relative Grading for CBSE 2024:

CBSE has implemented “Relative Grading,” which is based on the more scientific relative grading method as opposed to absolute grading, which assigns grades based on preset cut-off values. This means that rather than basing grades on a range of marks, such as 91 to 100 or 81 to 90, the candidates’ respective merits are taken into account to decide their group. The amount of candidates passing each subject determines the grade variation between subjects.

All of the passing students are placed in eight equal groups based on rank order, and they receive the following grades.

Merit Certificates for CBSE Toppers 2024:

The merit list and top scorers are not formally announced by CBSE. On the other hand, merit awards will be given to all students who place in the top 0.1% of each topic, given that the subject has at least 500 participants.

Points the Board Is Considering for CBSE 2024:

The following factors are taken into consideration when ranking the candidates:

  • When needed, small adjustments are made to the percentage of candidates to break ties.
  • If there is a tie, all of the students who received the same score receive the same grade.
  • In subjects where there are more than 500 candidates who have passed, a grading scheme is employed.
  • When a topic has less than 500 passing candidates overall, the grading scheme will be based on the distribution and grading of other subjects.

The grading system’s operation is demonstrated by the example that follows:
