CBSE Updated Exam Pattern for Class 11 and Class 12

CBSE Updated Exam Pattern: The Council Board of Secondary Education is responsible for conducting the CBSE Board class 11 and 12 exams. This year, the council has decided to make modifications in the exam pattern for classess 11 and 12. The changes are applicable from 2024-25. The modification took place to enhance the problem-solving, and practical thinking of the students as the MCQs and source based question are ticky to deal with because you need to know the details very clearly in order to answer it correctly.

The new exam pattern will includes more questions related to Competency questions in the form of MCQs, case-based questions, source-based integrated questions, or any other type, Select response type questions (MCQ) and Constructed response questions (Short Answer Questions/Long Answer type Questions, as per existing pattern).

The Exam Pattern for CBSE Classes 11 and 12th for 2024-25 is mentioned below in the table-

Changes in the Exam Pattern 2024–25 are mentioned below-

  • Marks for each subject– 80%
  • Marks based on assessment, practical examination and project work- 20%

Major Changes for CBSE Class 11th and 12th:

Academic Session 2024–25: Changes in the exam Pattern

1- Competency questions in the form of MCQs, case-based questions, source-based integrated questions, or any other type is increased from 40% to 50%

2- Select response type questions (MCQ) remain the same i.e. 20%

3- Constructed response questions (Short Answer Questions/Long Answer type Questions, as per existing pattern) have been decreased from 40% to 30%.
