Central Railway Employee Losses Rs.5 Lakh in Cyber Fraud Case

A Retired Central Railway employee in Mulund fell victim to cyber fraud, losing Rs.5 lakh from her savings.

On December 5, the 68-year-old received a call from Abhishek Dubey, a bogus Axis Bank staffer, requesting to update her PAN Card. He recommended a specific service for elderly people to win trust.

After she agreed, he started a video conversation, told her to download an app, and requested a screen share. She received a text concerning a premature FD (Fixed Deposit) withdrawal while distracted by a Google search, and Rs.1.15 lakh, Rs.1.95 lakh, and Rs.1.90 lakh were debited.

Mulund police have initiated an investigation against the unknown perpetrators. The event emphasizes the significance of exercising caution while responding to unsolicited calls and disclosing personal information.
