Centre Empowers ESIC Officials as Compounding Officers Under Social Security Code, 2020 The Ministry of Labour and Employment under the Government of India has empowered a few ESIC officials to use the powers of a compounding officer under the Code on Social Security, 2020.

The Central Government has announced this decision through an Official Notification No. S.O. 2362(E), dated May 08, 2026, in pursuance of its powers granted under sub-section (1) of section 138 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, (36 of 2020), read with sub-rule (1) of rule 54 of the Social Security (Central) Rules, 2026.

According to the said notification, officials of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), including Director General or Insurance Commissioner or Additional Commissioner or Regional Director Grade ‘A’/Director or Regional Director Grade ‘B’/Joint Director have been granted the authority to exercise the powers of compounding officer under the said Code, effective from the date of publication of this notification in the official gazette, concerning all establishments covered under the provisions of the said Code relating to Chapter IV.
