CGST Officials raids on Pan Masala Factory in Lucknow

A team of officials from the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department raided a pan masala factory in Lucknow’s Nadarganj neighbourhood on Saturday. The raids continued until the last reports arrived.

According to sources, the owner of the pan masala company was evading taxes by manipulating sale and purchase details.

The factory employees/workers began protesting as soon as the CGST team arrived. However, the team issued stern warnings and even threatened to file a FIR, prompting the agitated workers to leave the scene.

Several trucks loaded with goods were discovered parked in the factory and were inspected by CGST teams. The company sells pan masala in many districts and states.

According to sources, tax evasion was discovered when the company’s registers were checked. However, officials from the department refused to comment on the matter.

The department will release the details after the raid, according to sources. The agency allegedly raided the company’s depots in Nadarganj, Transportnagar, and Tilaknagar.

More depots in other parts of the state are expected to be raided in the coming days, according to sources.
