Company Law Committee has been given a one-year extension by the government
The Company Law Committee's term has been further extended by one year, to September 2022, by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Rajesh Verma, the corporate affairs secretary, now chairs the committee, which was formed in September 2019.
According to a ministry directive, the "Company Law Committee's tenure is hereby prolonged up to two years from the date of that order, i.e. until 18.09.2019."
It was established to offer suggestions on numerous matters relevant to the execution of the Companies Act and the Limited Liability Partnership Act, as well as to advise steps to declog and enhance the working of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
The committee, which has a total of 11 members, is charged with making recommendations to the government in phases and by subject, as determined by the chairperson, from time to time.
