Corporation disconnected Drinking Water Supply to Property Tax Defaulters Madurai Corporation disconnected drinking water connection to a resident who did not pay property tax for last seven years to the civic body in Villapuram on Friday. As per the press release, the resident of the property Karpagam Nagar in Villapuram in ward 91 has not paid property tax a total sum of Rs. 23,280 to the civic body since 2015-16. Despite the fact that the Corporation issued a notice to the resident and that officers later visited the house requesting payment of tax arrears, the resident did not pay the debt. When the water connection was severed, Revenue and Corporation officials were there. Since, he failed to pay the amount dues within the specific time given, the officials of corporation has disconnected the water connection. Officials have been vigorously collecting property tax, underground drainage tax, and drinking water tax from private organisations, hospitals, government buildings, private schools, shopping malls, and theatres during the previous month.
