The Customs Preventive Force Officers from Tejpur had seized 170 kgs of White Sandalwood valued at Rs. 28.05 lakhs on 18th Dec 2023.
These seized sandalwood were illegally imported from Myanmar and transited via Dimapur, Nagaland to Tezpur, Assam, from Sagaliahat, Assam.
Earlier this month, Authorities at Hyderabad International Airport seized gold worth Rs.26.64 lakh hidden in detergent. The traffickers were attempting to move gold illegally from Dubai to India. This is owing to the fact that gold is cheaper in Dubai than in India, and many people buy gold jewellery there.
