The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested then Inspector and Dock Examiner, Mundra Port (now Superintendent of Customs, Jamnagar) and a private person in bribery of Rs.2 Lakh.
A case was filed against the former Inspector & Dock Examiner at the Mundra Port in Gujarat on the grounds that he allegedly demanded an unauthorised payment of Rs. 7 Lakh from the complainant for the clearance of containers during his time there.
The accused allegedly threatened the complainant, saying that he would prevent them from performing their duties as a custom house agent if the demand for an undue advantage was not met.
CBI laid a trap and caught a private person(conduit of said public servant) while accepting bribe of Rs.Two Lakh from the Complainant as per directions of then Inspector & Dock Examiner, Mundra Port(now Superintendent of Customs, Jamnagar).
Incriminating documents and cash worth approximately Rs. 9.50 lakh were recovered from the accused's premises after searches were carried out, including in Mundra and Jamnagar (Gujarat).
Both the arrested accused will be produced before the Competent Court at Ahmedabad.
