Customs Official seized 26 Pieces of Concealed Gold from Train Passenger at Guwahati Railway Station
The Customs officers from the Anti-smuggling unit at Guwahati Customs detained a man travelling by train at Guwahati Railway Station in Assam.
Based on specific intelligence, the officials found 26 pieces of gold hidden within the individual’s trousers waistband. The total weight of the seized gold was 2401.31 grams.
Upon inspection, it was discovered that the gold pieces were 99.9% pure and of 24 karat quality. However, no genuine documentation proving ownership of the gold was discovered in the seized individual’s possession.
The approximate worth of the seized gold has yet to be calculated. One person has been caught in connection with this crime, and further investigation is underway.
Lately, Guwahati Customs seized gold bars and coins from a person on the Guwahati-Bangalore Express. The illicit haul, weighing 1997.96 grams/ 19.9kg, was discovered in the individual’s possession without valid documents.
The overall value of the seized gold in this case is a surprising Rs.1.28 crore, highlighting the vast scope of the unlawful activities caught by customs officers.
