Cyber Police arrests 2 accused for Duping People
Two individuals were arrested by the city's cybercrime police for duping a lot of people by promising them large sums of money. The accused duo enticed their victims by assigning them chores and promising them lucrative rewards if they completed them.
Prakash Prajapati and Kumar Prajapati, the accused, used to contact their victims on social media and offer part-time jobs accomplishing specific chores.
They used to guarantee a daily income of Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,000 and then convince their victims to invest in bitcoin in order to earn additional commission.
When the victims attempted to withdraw their earnings from an online wallet, they were unsuccessful. While Prakash purchased SIM cards and bank accounts to be used in the fraud, Kumar used these bank accounts to syphon the money.
Kumar has already been charged with over 15 crimes. The pair had previously been arrested by Hyderabad police and transported to the city on a transfer warrant.
According to cybercrime police, the number of victims being duped is on the rise.
Most cyber gangs communicate with their victims via Telegram or other social media platforms.
