Deadline for filing and payment of GSTR 3B extended to 25th August 2017
It is huge sigh of relief as governmentextends the deadline/due date to file the first return(i.e. GSTR 3B for the month of July,2017) by a week for those who wants to claim input credit of VAT/Service tax Pre GST Regim and now since GST website was not working since morning therefore government today extended the last date for filing and payment of GST to August 25 from the original deadline of August 20.
Earlier, on August 18, the deadline had been extended to August 28 from August 20 for those who wanted to use the opening balance of pre-GST credit in the current month. It, however, had not been extended for those who do not wish to claim opening credit. The extension is for taxpayers who is required to file the return on 20th August 2017 now they are suppose to File the return on or before 25th August 2017. The reason for extension of due dates is that GST website is not working since morning and it is the first Return to be filed under GST, the tax payers and the tax practitioners have requested for few more days to file their Return. Also, there have been requests from states which are hit with floods to extend the last date for filing of GST Returns. The State of Jammu & Kashmir has also requested for extension of time because of late passing of their GST Ordinance. Some technical glitches are also experienced by last minute return filers," the statement said.About Author
