Delhi Customs destroyed illegal Narcotic Substances worth Rs. 515 crore weighing 163.5 kg

The Delhi Customs Preventive Commissionerate destroyed illegal narcotic substances worth Rs. 515 crore and weighing approximately 163.5 kg at a waste management facility authorised by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) as part of the Special Campaign for the Disposal of Pending Matters 3.0 yesterday.

163.5 kg of illegal narcotics were found at the facility, including 69 kg of heroin, 3 kg of cocaine, 84 kg of charas, and 0.75 kg of ganja. Incineration was used to destroy 6.56 kg of marijuana/cannabis and 0.2 kg of methamphetamine.

A High Level Drug Disposal Committee formed specifically for this purpose oversaw the entire destruction process. The contrabands destroyed were seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in New Delhi.

M/s Biotic Waste Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Delhi, incinerated the NDPS substances in accordance with the Hazardous and Other Wastes (M and TM) Rules, 2016.

In order to ensure the success of Special Campaign 3.0, 311 R-22 CFC Cylinders containing Ozone Depleting Substances were seized/confiscated by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (298 Cylinders) and the Delhi Custom Preventive Commissionerate (13 Cylinders) and handed over to M/s SRF Ltd. (authorized/approved agency) on 17.10.2023 and 19.10.2023, respectively.
