DRI arrests mastermind of Smuggling Narcotics

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI)‘s Officers has arrested the mastermind of an international drug trafficking syndicate, a Nigerian national, in New Delhi in a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking.

This operation follows a series of DRI actions that began on June 28, 2023, with the seizure of 500 grammes of cocaine at a courier terminal. This operation resulted in the arrest of two people in a well-planned controlled delivery operation in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Following interrogation of the arrested individuals and forensic examination of digital devices, DRI officers identified the mastermind behind the drug syndicate, who was operating out of New Delhi.

DRI officers successfully pinpointed the accused’s exact location over several months of relentless efforts and surveillance. The DRI team apprehended the mastermind in New Delhi’s Uttam Nagar neighbourhood in a meticulously executed operation. Following his arrest, he was taken to Mumbai on a transit remand and will appear in court on September 16, 2023. The accused is now being held in DRI custody pending further investigation.
