DRI seized Foreign Origin Cigarettes Sticks worth Rs.2.93 Crore

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence‘s Officers of Delhi Zonal Unit has seized 19.6 lakh sticks of foreign origin cigarettes valued at Rs. 2.93 Crore which were smuggled into India.

The officers’ efforts to locate the particular godowns in the absence of an address are commendable.

In another case the officers of the Customs Preventive Zone, Tiruchirappalli, intercepted a two wheeler and recovered 14.8 Kgs of smuggled Gold valued at Rs.8.92 Crore.

The CBIC Chairman praise the hard work of field officers has put in the work. Chairman said that likewise the officers identify the exact godowns without any identifiable address is laudable.

He stated that their dedication and diligence ensure that the wheels of commerce turn smoothly, revenues are collected for essential public services, and the economic interests of our nation are safeguarded.

I would encourage the senior officers in the department to be liberal in recognizing the good work done by the officers at all levels.”
