DRI seized smuggled Fake Currency Notes at Pune Officers of the Pune Regional Unit filed a case for the recovery of Fake Indian Currency Notes(FICN) that were being smuggled based on specific information provided by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). On Wednesday, this decision was made with the help of authorities from Pune Customs (12th October, 2022). The group of DRI officials reacted quickly and caught a motorcyclist who was attempting to cross Elphinstone Road while coming from Khadki Bazar Lane. Under the terms of the Customs Act of 1962, a total of 400 smuggled counterfeit Indian currency notes of the Rs. 500/- denomination—each having a face value of Rs. 2 lakhs—were taken from him. Additionally, two more people involved in the distribution of this smuggled FICN have been apprehended by DRI officials. Investigations have shown that these FICNs were brought into India illegally from Bangladesh. Three suspects who were involved in the distribution of these fake money notes were detained and placed in judicial custody. Further investigation in this matter is under progress.
