Enforcement Directorate attaches assets worth Rs.29.83 lakh of EX-IFS Abhay Kant Pathak
Directorate of Enforcement(ED) has provisionally attached assets worth Rs.29.83 lakh under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) in connection with a PMLA case registered against Abhay Kant Pathak, Ex-IFS, the then Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Addl. P.C.C.F.), Plan, Programme and Afforestation, O/o P.C.C.F., Aranya Bhawan, Government of Odisha for possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
On the basis of FIR dt. 27.11.2020 registered by the Vigilance Cell P.S., the ED initiated an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, and the commission of offences under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against Abhay Kant Pathak for possession of disproportionate assets.
During the course of the PMLA investigation, it was discovered that Abhay Kant Pathak had invested his allegedly ill-gotten income, which was in excess of his known sources of income, in acquiring numerous immovable properties and in bank investments in his and his family members’ names.
